Inducting Our Namesake

On Friday, March 23, 2007, an extremely long journey that began in 2003 came to an end. A very young Garrison Tyranus, having just broken away from the Southern Garrison and formed our own Garrison in 2002, set out to sponsor an Honorary membership for the man whose character name we took as our own, Christopher Lee as Darth Tyranus (Count Dooku). The name “Tyranus” was submitted by TK 0869, Matthew Henry, as we searched for a name that defined us not only from Star Wars reference, but also tying in to the phrasing of the seal of the Commonwealth of Virginia, “Sic Semper Tyrannis”.

The 501st Legion Celebrates 10 years!

In 2007, the 501st Legion is celebrating ten years of bringing order to the galaxy. From one man's dream to a bona fide international Legion of thousands, the men and women of the Fighting 501st proudly continue their mission to "celebrate the Star Wars movies through the wearing of costumes, to promote the quality and improvement of costumes and props, and most importantly to contribute to the local community through charity and volunteer work..." We would be honored if you would join us!

Stormtroopers Invade the Tournament of Roses Parade

On New Years Day over 200 troopers of the 501st Legion invaded the Rose Parade in Pasadena California. The troopers represented 22 countries and the continental U.S. and were recruited by The Maker himself, George Lucas. Lucas served as the grand marshal of the parade. The parade was an opportunity for him to thank his many fans and to kick off the 30th anniversary of Star Wars. Also included in the parade were two Lucasfilm floats representing the imaginary worlds of Endor and Naboo. Additional costumed members of the 501st and our sister organization the Rebel Legion marched around them.
